An Unplanned Hiatus, Getting The #&*$ Out of My Own Way and A Reason to Dance Courtesy of One of My Favorite Artists

Hello my succulent little crab cakes...

My, my it's been a minute!  I haven't forgotten about you.  Although my hiatus was unplanned, it was definitely jam packed with people and experiences that ended up being stellar medicine for my soul.  I hope to never stop learning, whether it be from mistakes or from whatever the opposite of a mistake is.  I am not really sure.  I just know that I am thankful for each and every twist in the plot because, without them, my life would be stagnant and infinitely boring.  By GAWD it's good to be back.

The Chariot... Dude's legit.  No joke, he is pretty much exactly who I needed to be with for the last several days.  Coincidence?  I think not.

"When you tap into your inner guidance and balance it with self control, hard work, and perseverance, it's likely to manifest a triumphant outcome."
~John Holland

During my time with him, the Chariot taught me quite a few different lessons.  The Chariot is all about drive, forward motion, determination, consistency and momentum.  This is an important life lesson in and of itself.  We have to use determination to manifest the results that we want... stay focused, get inspired and then DO IT, whatever it is.  Take the road less traveled and don't look back.  Easier said than done, trust me I know... Making a decision to carry something out, no matter how small of a step it is, and actually following through to the end is something that I consistently struggle with.

What the Chariot has taught me and what I have to keep telling myself is to GET OUT OF MY OWN FUCKING WAY AND LET SHIT HAPPEN!  Pardon the profanity but criminy!  If I could just remember that one simple thing, things just might be a little easier.  When you take yourself out of the picture, when you take ego out of the picture, it does nothing but open up the road ahead and allow things to happen, to grow, to come to fruition... and that is precisely what we want, right?

"This is a time to be bold and commit to the hunting
of new life and a better relationship
with the world, as well as the fulfillment of
wholesome ambition."
~The Wildwood Tarot

The Lover's Tarot says that the Chariot represents "PROGRESS preceded by significant struggle."  This  really resonates with me, especially right now.  When we go through a hard time, a struggle, we don't just get through it, we move past it.  It's like lighting a fire under your own ass.  Yes, whatever your struggles or obstacles are in life...they suck... BUT you take control, you leave your misunderstandings behind (huge for me right now!!!) you put in the effort, and you come out on the other side a stronger, more seasoned soul than you were before.  You win.  Triumph.  Victory.  Time to party!

"In everyday life (the Chariot) means that one should let go of old ways of thinking and, with trust in the order of the Universe, accept the unavoidable with calmness by greeting success as well as failure with the same strength of soul."
~Ananda Tarot

I love that... "greeting success as well as failure with the same strength of soul."  That's powerful.  The Ananda Tarot is one of my favorite decks to work with because, not only is it rich in symbolism without being over the top, but the meaning behind the cards comes through to me so much more gracefully than any other deck I own.  In spending some quality time with the Chariot card from this particular deck and reading what the guidebook had to say there were a few things that stood out to me that I hadn't seen in my studies of other resources.  Depending on your situation, if the Chariot shows up in a reading, it could be pulling you out of your comfort zone.  GROAN... I know, I know... But it's true.  Forward motion doesn't mean comfortable motion.  Just because it is forward  motion doesn't mean it's going in the direction you think is ideal either... in fact, sometimes forward motion can seem downright backward.  I know it's happened to me that way many times.  Sometimes the only way forward is the way back.

Think about this one:  "New problems demand new solutions."  Maybe you run into something on your path that is completely brand new to you.  Happens all the time.  You've never had to deal with something of this nature or this caliber before.  You may need to take a step back, if for no other reason but to be able to see the problem or the obstacle more clearly.  You end up having to "leave the realm of security to make a big leap forward."  In the moment, I loath adapting but, once it has been done, I feel much better for having adapted to the situation and I feel triumphant for having been strong and not shying away from the situation, whatever it may have been.  I have followed the urge toward independence and seen it through... Pop the bubbly!

"Holding on or moving on is a most difficult decision."
~The Wormweird Tarot

In conclusion, my loves, the Chariot is a pretty rad dude with a TON of lessons for me.  I could go on all night, typing away, but, alas, I must sleep.  I hope you can take something from the Chariot and apply it to your own life as I have and will continue to do in mine. Love, light, blessings, rainbows, daisies and fucking lemonade to you all.  I love your faces right off of your skulls.  <3

A Down~Pour, A Cup of Stars and The Most Romantic Card in The Deck

Good Morning Lovers...

It is pouring rain this morning in Nebraska. I have been longing to take a walk in the cemetery in town as I haven't made it over there yet but it has just been too soggy the last few days. I had an über romantic idea that I would be writing this post about card Number 6, the Lovers, whilst sitting in a graveyard sipping some delectable Tulsi Sweet Rose tea and reveling in the spirit filled ambiance...  Alas, it isn't to be. I will have to settle for medium roast coffee inside my camper with a steady ceiling drip mere feet from where I sit on the bed. At least I still get to use my constellation mug!

"As long as someone else exists, we are not alone."
~Ananda Tarot

Ah, love... The topic of a great majority of the readings I do for others. When will I find true love? Is there someone out there for me? Is this person my soul mate? I find that most times when doing a reading about love, the Lovers card is conveniently absent...No, it is when I am reading for someone who is happily married and is wondering about the next step to take in their business that the Lovers show up. Sometimes this causes alarm
in my clients... What? I'm not looking for love, my relationship is wonderful, my husband and I never argue and we are intimate daily... No problems there! A common misconception about the most "romantic " card in the deck... The Lovers is rarely about love at all.

About the Lovers card:
"...conflict between different attractions and the necessity of choice which means responsibility."
~Aquarian Tarot

In my study of the Lovers, I found a common theme throughout all of my guide books and other resources. This card is about a choice that must be made in a relationship.  Remember though... Not all relationships are sexual or romantic in nature. This could mean a business relationship, a relationship with your pet, a family member, or something like, say, chocolate!!!

"Deep spiritual initiation, partnership or union is taking place at this time
or is manifesting for the future."
~Psychic Tarot Oracle

A few other ways of interpreting this card in a reading are:

1. Being open to inspiration or creativity.
2. Generally a short term... 12~18 months.
3. Love coming from within yourself.
4. Love of all nature.
5. Harmony in a relationship, romantic or otherwise.
6. Needed balance in a relationship.

I have found that meditation is the way the divinatory meanings of the cards come through to me best. I suggest talking to your cards, spending some quality time with them individually as well as together and really bring your heart into finding the true meaning of each card for you. Everyone's interpretation, while they may have the same flavor, are meant to be very different. I even sleep with my deck! Find your interpretation, be open to the inspiration that the cards have to offer, and don't be afraid to bring your tarot study to heart level and let it fester there for a while. You will be amazed at what   comes out of those images if you just give them the chance.

Please feel free to comment and let me know what interpretation comes through for you should you decide to spend some time with the Lovers this week... Also, don't forget to check out my YouTube channel ( https://youtu.be/zI1ZXn4C7WI ) and please like my page on Facebook!

My Vlog, The Women Who Act As My Hierophants, and A Call To Share!!

Greetings Fellow Spiritual Beings!

Apologies for the late post... The hubs and I are making progress on the house, however he has been really sick with one of those pesky summer colds for the last few days and has been unable to help out much.  He is on the mend and should be up and running again very soon.  Also... I have been vlogging!  I have two videos up on YouTube so go check them out at:

Can you believe that this is my 7th post?!  It seems like just yesterday when I started this adventure through the Tarot... Okay, down to the business at hand!  Card number 5 of the Tarot; The Hierophant!

To be honest with you, I was dreading studying this card.  It doesn't seem like much fun to study a guy that is known in the Marseilles Tarot as the Pope; A spiritual leader.  Meh.  But then I buckled down and started reading up on him and, wouldn't you know, I fell in love.  I don't know about you but the word Hierophant did not make an appearance in my vocabulary until I picked up my first Tarot deck.  Let's take a look at what this peculiar word actually means...

The word Hierophant comes from
the Greek hiero and phantos,
meaning "revealer of the sacred."

I have known the Hierophant as a teacher or spiritual leader, but this?  This puts a new spin on things for me.  The Hierophant is a spiritual mentor, someone who takes something that you are interested in but don't quite understand and makes it into something you can swallow.  I am fortunate enough to have many embodiments of the Hierophant in my life, thanks to Facebook, YouTube, Blogtalk Radio and the internet in general.  Here are a few I would like to spotlight:

Shout out to....

1. Joanna DeVoe: Girl, let me tell you... you were the very first witchy
blog/vlog/radio show that really caught my attention and boy do you pack a punch!
I can't thank you enough for being there to take GIANT topics, be they witchy or mundane,
and make them into bite sized morsels for me and your many other admirers to chew on!
A big ol' MUCH LOVE to you Jo!
2. Kelly Ann Maddox: I am 99% sure that Kelly Ann does not follow
my blog, however, I do need to give her an enormous shout out for all of the things she has taught me
since finding her YouTube channel and blog, thanks to the aforementioned Jo DeVoe!  Kelly Ann, you are brilliant and your voice is just intoxicating...  Your "no nonsense" attitude, enticing topics and
knowledge of many a witchy subject make your blog/vlog a highlight in my life.
 THANK YOU!
3. Tylluan Penry: I just recently found this gem, but I think so much of her and have
learned so much from her already, that I think she has earned this third and final shout out.  Tylluan has a wealth of knowledge and gives it to you in short 5-7 minute videos which she films at her kitchen table.
Thank you Tylluan... and I hope you continue to make your wonderfully witchy videos for us to enjoy!  Also... Hello to Noah! :)

The above mentioned "spiritual mentors" of mine along with a  few others really made an impact on me in the recent past.  When the Hierophant makes an appearance in a spread, remember those who have taught you a thing or two, gave your life some structure, made order of the chaos that can be spirituality when you are first starting out.  This fool isn't too far on her way yet... I am not above learning a lesson from Witches with more experience than I and many more witchy years under their belt.   I will make it my life's mission NEVER to stop learning, and to do that, I need to keep finding teachers and mentors to show me new things!  So PLEASE share... who are your witchy, spiritual mentors?  I would love it if you would comment and share with me who makes you think, makes your head spin, makes you go hmmmm... whether they know it or not!

Love, light and blessings to you all my pretties...

A Blue Moon, The Emperor and The Sharing of Video Blogs

Hello My Darlings...

    "One becomes two, two becomes
three, and out of the third comes the
               one as the fourth."
             ~Maria Prophetissa

The last week went by so fast and was so jam packed full of witchy goodness that I really had to stretch to make time for my Tarot studies.  The blue moon was this past Friday and was the perfect excuse for a camping trip with my bestie.  It only rained for a few seconds, the night skies were clear, our fire was raging and the moonbathing was in full effect.  We had a magnificent, magickal time and woke up to a beautifully overcast and slightly less muggy Lammas!  I hope you all had as wonderous a weekend as I did!

         But, alas, the Emperor,
in all his power and authority,
      is demanding a blog post...

The Emperor is the father of Tarot.  His number, the number 4, is a number of stability, order and logic.  Where the Empress is compassion, the Emperor is authority.  Look at the way the Emperor is sitting.  On most cards his stature is overly relaxed.  His legs are crossed, or he is slouched in a reclined position.  This, to me, means that this guy has no care in the world.  He knows that his kingdom is protected.  As a matter of fact, he doesn't even need his shield; it is cast off to the side in many cases.  He has ruled with an iron fist for so long, and so consistantly that he no longer needs to concern himself with the safety of his people.  He has trained men to deal with that for him.  Now, he just gets to be the Emperor.  Lucky dude.

"I am in command of my own intentions
and embrace my will in the world."
~ Around The Tarot in 78 Days

When I see the Emperor in a spread, I think of a father figure.  Someone who means business, brings order, rules the household... but who also can be laid back and fun loving when the time is right.

The Emperor, Mars to the Empress' Venus, can also be a sign of power in times of war.  There are shots to be called and the Emperor is not afraid to call them.  When times get tough, he will be there for his people, lead them into battle, be a guiding light and be the one to calm them in times of chaos.  He is confident; in himself and his men.

Those of you who are interested, may I suggest that you meditate with this card?  Take the advice of Sallie Nichols.  Step into this card and interview the Emperor... He is quite the character.  I would love to hear what he has to say to you!

One last thing before I go.  I am thinking of starting a video blog as well... I have seen quite a few of you all doing this and I love seeing your faces!!  Here are a couple of links to the videos I have been watching... Enjoy!

The Scent of Agrimony, The Empress and Birthing a Masterpiece

Hello all you lovely Witches…

I want to start off the blog this time with a heartfelt, genuine, Agrimony scented thank you to all of you who reached out with sympathy after the death of my sweet kitten River. Your kind words and healing energy help more than I could ever express.  I am eternally grateful to have such a wonderful community of Witches with whom to share both my joys and my sorrows.   From the bottom of my heart, thank you.  That being said… on with the Tarot talk!

I have always had a strange love affair with the number 3 and any multiple of 3.  To me, 3 is a number of stability and strength.  As I write this I am 33 years old, and I am comfortable in my skin, my life, my work and my spirituality more than I have ever been… ever. I feel strong, confident and courageous.  There is something about this year that is just so magickal and empowering and while it may seem crazy to link the fact that I am finally SUPER happy with my life and everything and everyone in it to numerology, I do. So naturally, I was excited to delve into card number 3 of the major arcana ~ The Empress.

“Who is The Empress? Is she witch or goddess,
devouring mother or Madonna,
femme fatale or femme inspiratrice?
The answer is probably all of these~ as who among women is not?
And what man does not have lurking in his depths a powerful feminine
aspect by turns creative and vindictive; moved to compassion one moment
and in a jealous rage the next!”
Jung and Tarot ~ An Archetypal Journey
                                                                       By~ Sallie Nichols

The Empress is the mother of the Tarot.  She is compassionate, loving, and strong and always there when you need her.  She is a fixture in the house of Tarot and the glue that holds it all together.  She is action where the High Priestess is intuition and intent.

When you think of a mother, what kind of things do you think of?  I think of reproduction, the bearer of seeds, the giver, the nurturer. The appearance of this card in a spread, while it could mean a literal pregnancy or a person in your life who nurtures and is compassionate, resonates with me as more of a call to recreate.  Regardless of gender, we are all able to create new life … We are creative.

“Be as creative as possible in every way

 to avoid a life that is bereft of new life;

we were born to create more.”

Around the Tarot in 78 Days

By~ Marcus Katz & Tali Goodwin

The Empress calls out for us to be creative… to produce something new!  This is exciting!  Let’s do it… let’s write a poem, paint with watercolors, put together a bouquet of wild flowers… let’s birth a masterpiece …just for the sake of being a creatrix.  Creativity makes us stronger, more stable Witches.  It has infinite power.  Harness it! Use it! Go forth and recreate, reproduce… and don’t forget to share it with your Witchy friends.  (Hopefully I am included! J)

Until next time...Love, light and blessings to you all!

The High Priestess, A Chance Encounter and A Hot Starbucks Window Seat

Good afternoon Witches!

I sit here in a crowded Starbucks on the hottest Monday afternoon ever and I have no other option but to sit at the window... with the sun beating in. Normally I would be extremely excited to sit in the sun, I am a child of nature… but it is so hot. Seriously…SO HOT.

This week I have been researching card number 2 of the Tarot, The High Priestess. If you are reading this, please do me a favor… If you have a Tarot deck, pull it out and take a good long look at the High Priestess card. Take a few minutes to meditate with her; really listen to what she has to say.  She is a wealth of knowledge and the best way to connect with her is to be with her in her world. What do you notice about this card that is different from the first two cards we have encountered?  What does your intuition tell you about this card and the images within it?

As with all of the twos in the Tarot, the High Priestess makes me first think of duplicity; the need to see life from different perspectives and the magickal feminine power of reproduction... but not only that. The Popess, as she is sometimes called, is the first woman to show up on our journey, and thank Goddess she is! She embodies women's power and intuition like nobody's business.

The first thing I notice when looking at the different High Priestesses in my Tarot collection, is that in almost all of them she is shrouded. Shrouded in mystery? Probably... she looks awfully mysterious. She is also the first to be seated. To me, this means she is rooted grounded.  This woman isn’t going anywhere.  She knows her place and this is it.  She has neither need nor desire to be anywhere else.

I have a couple of quotes I want to share with you that I found in my studies this week. The first one comes from the book Jung and Tarot- An Archetypal Journey by Sallie Nichols and I think this is a good time to share it. Sallie has a very unique, brilliant approach to the Tarot.  She has taught me so much in the last week just by reading this one little section of her book. In this quote, Sallie has stepped into the High Priestess card and is conversing with the High Priestess herself, asking her questions almost interrogation style, and the answers she gets are incredible.

"'Lady Popess, many women today feel that you should be Tarot number one. Do you agree with them?'...
'Mercy no!... There are lots of things they don't understand about our wicked, wily, wonderful number two! Yes, I'm quite contented with woman's place.'"
~Sallie Nichols Jung and Tarot- An Archetypal Journey

The moon, a symbol of femininity, power and intuition, makes an appearance more often than not on the High Priestess cards that I possess, and a couple of my cards show an owl or some other symbol of knowledge and wisdom.  Think about it… Mystery and knowledge… INTUITION!  If there is one word that sums up the High Priestess card for me, it is intuition.

I love and adore Kelly Ann Maddox and I watch her YouTube channel like it’s going out of style.  I believe it was she who commented on the possibility of the High Priestess card, Roman numeral II, could correspond with the death card being the 11th card in the major arcana.  This is something I am really going to have to chew on… and something that I find absolutely intoxicating about the art of Tarot.  There are so many ways of reading the cards, many of which I can’t even fathom this soon in my Tarot journey!
I am obsessed, enamored, infatuated by Tarot. I have never had anything that I was really passionate about in life, and Tarot dropped in right when I needed it.  It opened doors I never thought I would go through confidently and I am striding my ass through them every day without a second thought!  With Tarot, I have and continue to manifest my own destiny.  The journey has only just begun and I feel like I have stripped myself of my old skin and I am a new woman.

Yesterday, as I was strolling down our lane to try to make my daily step goal, I came across a very large black snake.  She was so majestic and sleek that it took me so by surprise that my breath caught in my throat and for a moment I couldn’t move.  We were both seemingly frozen in time, staring into each other’s eyes.  We shared a magickal moment, the snake and I.   I have never been a huge reptile fan so for me not to be freaked out of my gourd was strange, but not only was I not afraid, I was so excited that I ran back to the house to get my husband and my son.  Alas, when I returned to show off my new-found friend, she was nowhere to be found.  I am sure I will see her again; however, I am not sure that either of us was on this plane when we met on Peppermint Lane.  That elegant snake was, to me, a symbol of the High Priestess manifesting herself in my life.

“…for an even number, two is a little odd, don’t you think?

I mean, two is fat and substantial like a pot,

yet it is also kind of curly and elusive,

like a snake…”

~Sallie Nichols Jung and Tarot- An Archetypal Journey

I sincerely hope that anyone following this blog is getting as much out of my studies as I am.  Please feel free to share and comment!  I would welcome any constructive criticism as well as any of your views on the cards. Until next time Witches…

BLESSINGS to you all!!

The Magician, Manifestation and an Unfortunately Late Post!

Ahhhh!!  I am a day late in posting... and it KILLS me!  The hubs and I have been so busy tearing out carpet and demolishing our bathroom that I totally spaced blogging yesterday, not to mention the rest of the week.  I had every intention to share a deck review last week and it just didn't happen.  My apologies!  I will do my best to be more consistant in my blog posts once we are finished remodeling our home... Until then, I am still going to do my best to catch up with you here on the blog once a week, as close to Monday as humanly possible!

So... Card numero uno!  The MAGICIAN.  I love seeing this card come up in any spread.  To me the magician means skill, manifestation and bringing the power of the Universe, God, Goddess, Diety, whatever title resonates with your path, and bringing it into being in the physical world.  I look at the way the Magician is pointing with one hand to the universe and with the other hand to the earth.  This to me can mean nothing but manifestation.  It being card number one, it also is fairly early in the journey, so it also may mean learning a new skill or way of manifesting your dreams.  Try out new ways of manifesting, learning or just being spiritual in general.  Even, and  probably better, if you make it up!

A lot of readers think of the Magician as a trickster, and while I can see that in some positions within a spread, that is not how this card comes through to me 9 times out of 10.  I see a forward motion and bringing the unthinkable into reality... MAGIC(K)!!!!

"The universe is saying:
Allow me to flow through you unrestricted, and you will see the greatest magic you have ever seen."

 ~Klaus Joehle

One more thing before I go...  I am absolutely STARVING to get together with all you witches!  I am thinking of trying to plan a retreat sometime soon.  Please leave your thoughts in the comments!  I would love to see if anyone would be interested in attending if I were to set things up, what you would be interested in doing whilst at said retreat and just any random thoughts in between!  What do you think???!!!

Thank you to all who are reading and sharing! Please comment and let me know if you have any questions, comments or critiques... I would love your feedback! You witches are my favorite!!

Love and Light to ALL!!

A Fresh Start, A New House and A Free Spirit- The Fool Card

Darlings,

I hope you all had a safe and splendid holiday weekend! Mine was full of new beginnings, which compliments the first card of my journey beautifully... The Fool.

My husband, my son and I just moved from the "city" of Omaha, Nebraska to pretty much the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing but nature. Our new house needs desperately to be remodeled so we are staying in a fifth wheel camper in our front yard for a couple of months while we tear our house apart and put it back together again... Talk about a test of patience! But alas, between boxes and fireworks my son's birthday and brand new baby kittens, I had some time to research card 0 of the tarot. And oh did it ever resonate with me!!

The first thing that stood out to me when meditating on this card is how this "fool" is not so foolish after all! No... He is innocent, not foolish. I feel like these two things can be mistaken for each other a lot of the time. You'll often hear phrases like "Act your age," "Grow up," and "Watch where you're going." Maybe that isn't always such sound advice... Maybe sometimes you need to act like a child! Be childish, leap before you look, let your spirit be free... There is no telling where you might end up if you do! I say, take that childish journey, spend that ungodly amount of money, sign up for that class!  And the fool stands beside me grinning and shouting "Tell 'em girl!"

I know that if I had listened to what my logical mind would have told me was the "smart" or "grown up" thing to do, I would not be living in a fifth wheel camper in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, driving a half an hour  to work every day and loving every second of it! I find myself acting like a child more now than ever before and my hubs and I have never been happier! Sometimes you have to take that leap of faith and let your spirit soar free!  You may land in shit... In which case, at least you tried and you probably learned something along the way... But you may just find yourself exactly where you have always dreamed of being!

Take it from my friend the fool. Grab your bindle and your rose and step off that cliff! You know what? Take your little doggie friend with you!  You'll feel better for it.

                                   B. B
Blessings, blessings, blessings...

This Fool's Journey

My Pretties,

It is so nice to meet you here at the beginning of my story. Starting today, I embark on a journey through the infinite depths that is the tarot. I am the fool, the vagabond, the gypsy, the novice.  I carry no map to guide my way. I have only my innocence, my sack and my dog and I am setting off, unaware. Unaware not only of what this new adventure will bring, but also of what is directly in front of me... Of how quickly I will step from the solid ground of the here and now, and into the topsy-turvy world of divination.

During this journey through the cards, I will be exploring each of the 78 cards in depth.  What does it look like, smell like, taste like...? How does it make me feel inside of my heart of hearts? I will research each archetype within the tarot, dedicating an entire week to discovering all I can about every aspect of each card and the divinatory meanings ,  personalities and characteristics they hold. I will use multiple depictions of the classic tarot, reviewing books, decks, other readers and tools of the trade along the way.

It has been a long time dream of mine to dive deep into the study of divination through the tarot and FINALLY I have the means, time, inspiration and drive to take that leap and become consumed by the study of all things tarot! I have decided to blog about my journey here as I feel led throughout the week, with a weekly overview of what I learned posted every Monday night.

I am so incredibly excited to be taking this leap...  these first steps to becoming who I am truly meant to be... to Becoming Madam Jonquil!  I sincerely hope you will follow along! Grab your sack... Let's go!
